Born to Eternal Life .... A loving tribute to Sr. Marie Lourdes
Sr. Marie Lourdes was called to her Eternal Abode on 3rd March 2017. As she left her earthly family we feel :-
“A light from our household is gone
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled”
Sr. Basil was born in Chevoor,Trichur District, Kerala on 12th July 1932. She was the second daughter of Mr. Joseph Eluvathigal and Mrs. Susan Eluvathigal. Sr. Basil did her elementary school in Chevoor and completed her high school at her mother's place Irinjalakuda. After her 10th standard she responded to God’s call and joined in the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy, Visakhapatnam.
Passion for Christ- Passion for Humanity
The long awaited exuberant day for the young professed sisters was dawned on 26th May 2016. Sisters gathered from East and West, North and South to rejuvenate oneself for the mission of Christ. The zealous missionary, a woman on fire and a true daughter of Fr. Medaille Sr. David SSJC was the chosen resource person for the seminar. After having studied the signs of the time and the need of the hour Sr. David came up with a challenging theme “Passion for Christ – Passion for Humanity” and invited the SSJA to be mystic – Sage and Prophet in this present scenario.
12th may 2015 was an auspicious day to all in our Province, as long awaited junior seminar 2015 was finally at hand. Around 40 junior sisters of our Province from different communities and parts of India gathered in St. Joseph’s School hall at 8.30 am for the inauguration.
Health Care services in the northeastern state of Tripura got a much-needed impetus with the inauguration of St. Joseph Hospital at the capital city of Agartala on 19th March 2015. Shri Pabitra Kar, the Local MLA and Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly inaugurated the Hospital and called it a â€˜boon for the people of Tripuraâ€™. Built, managed and owned by Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy (SJA) Bhubaneswar, St. Josephâ€™s has become the first Catholic hospital in the Northeastern state of Tripura. The inauguration was immediately followed by blessing of the newly built hospital building by Most Rev Lumen Monteiro, CSC, DD, Bishop of Agartala.
As God revealed His holy will for our Congregation, we, your sisters of Bhubaneswar Province are overwhelmed with sentiments of joy, pride and gratitude mingled with pain and sorrow. We wish you "HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS AND GOD'S BLESSINGS" on the occasion of your election as the new Superior General.
Sr. Martina hails from Hydrabad, Andhra Pradesh. Her beloved parents Mr. D.K Dass and J. Lily were blessed with seven children who they brought up in piety and Holiness. It was not accidental that the fifth child among them received a special call to religious life. Bloomed in the love of God and filled with passion to serve the needy attracted her to religious life.
Junior seminar - 2014 began on 12th May at Cuttack auditorium. Our Final year junior sisters welcomed all the juniors along with Sr.Sylvia the Assistant Provincial Superior and other significant people.
It was a unique experience for the Pre Novices of both the provinces to be together as one family of St. Joseph. This gathering strengthened our unity and love for each other. We were welcomed with Arathi.
What amazes me is that before we can count we are taught to be grateful for what others do. With our experience, we begin to be grateful for what is, and if we live long enough and deep enough and authentically enough, gratitude becomes our way of life.

On that exuberant evening of 20th August, 2011 had an added ecstasy and gorgeousness as Six of our sisters were felicitated to express our gratitude for their 25 years of Love, Service and Commitment. With joyful and grateful hearts we, the family of St. Joseph celebrated the covenantal love and faithfulness of the Lord in the 25 Years of spiritual journey of our dear Sisters.
Indeed 1st June 2014 was a splendid day in the life of the sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy as the young, pulsating and energetic sisters of both the Provinces gathered together in the twin city of Odisha as part of their formation program at the ebb and flow of their preparation for the final vows. Animated by renewed vision for a righteous life these sisters gathered in the house of God radiating love and light to discern the purpose for their own call to religious life.
